TROPOS COMPLETES NEW ROUND OF VENTURE FUNDING

Funding Will Primarily be Used to Accelerate Expansion into Smart Grid Market

SUNNYVALE, CA – June 2, 2009 – Tropos Networks, the market leading wireless IP broadband mesh network provider announced completion of a new round of venture capital funding.  The Company intends to use the proceeds of the financing primarily for accelerating its expansion into the fast growing smart grid market.  In an announcement in April, Tropos announced entry into this adjacent market with its GridCom™ architecture for building wide area aggregation networks for smart grid communications.  U.S.-based electric utilities using Tropos today include Anderson Municipal Light and Power; City of Lompoc Utilities; and City of Rock Hill Utilities. 

Tropos plans to continue to grow its existing business focused on selling products and services to municipalities that use Tropos’ wireless broadband network infrastructure to cost effectively and securely operate multiple city services and systems, including public safety and video security; intelligent transportation systems; automated utility meter reading; and many more.  To date, Tropos has more than 750 customers around the world using its patented products to build greener, safer, and smarter communities.

The round of funding was lead by Integral Capital Partners who invested in Tropos in previous rounds.  Other past investors that also participated in this new round of funding include Benchmark Capital, Voyager Capital Partners, and Hanna Capital.
