Abstract

Multiple layers of security operating at different layers of the protocol stack provides a defense-in-depth approach to securing Smart Grid communication networks.  FIPS 140-2 is an established cyber security standard for the design and implementation of cryptographic systems widely used by Federal organization that utilities should considering integrating as part of their security architecture.
